Stay Protected This Cyber Monday and Throughout the Holiday Shopping Season

We're excited to share an important update from Golden Shield Protection: After two months of intensive beta testing, our Windows application is on track for its December 2025 release, just in time for the holiday season when online protection matters most.
Beta Testing Success
Throughout October and November, our team has helped to refine the Windows version of Golden Shield to deliver the same robust protection our MacOS users have come to trust. The testing has been invaluable, and we're confident that the Windows app will provide comprehensive defense against the most common and financially devastating online scams targeting older adults.
Our Windows application features the same AI-powered protection that passively scans websites against thousands of known phishing links, blocks remote access attempts, and identifies gift card schemes—all without tracking search history or slowing down your computer.
A Critical Time for Online Safety
This launch couldn't come at a more crucial time. The holiday season, particularly around Cyber Monday and through December, represents the most dangerous period of the year for online scams targeting seniors.
The statistics are sobering:
Elder fraud complaints increased by 14% in 2023, with associated losses rising by about 11%
In 2024, seniors over 60 reported $4.885 billion in losses from 147,127 complaints—a 46% increase in complaints and 43% increase in losses from the previous year
During the holiday season, scams targeting older adults significantly increase, with one region reporting more than 4,600 victims and over $325 million in losses since 2020
Phishing attacks referencing Black Friday and Cyber Monday jumped 692% during the shopping season
Why Seniors Are Targeted During the Holidays
The holiday season creates a perfect storm for cybercriminals. Increased spending during the holidays is the driving force behind why more scams occur during this season, with everyone becoming more vulnerable due to the holiday spirit and increased trust.
Older adults face particular risk because they often have retirement savings and own homes, making them attractive targets. The emotional manipulation tactics scammers use during the holidays—urgency around gift buying, charitable giving, and family obligations—are designed to bypass critical thinking and prompt quick action.
This Cyber Monday: Stay Vigilant
As millions of Americans shop online this Cyber Monday, please keep these safety tips in mind:
Watch for Warning Signs:
Unsolicited emails or texts about package deliveries
Pop-up messages claiming computer problems
Websites with slightly misspelled URLs
Deals that seem too good to be true
Requests for payment via gift cards or wire transfers
Protect Yourself:
Shop only on secure websites (look for HTTPS in the URL)
Go directly to retailer websites rather than clicking on email or text links
Never provide personal information in response to unsolicited messages
Take your time—resist pressure to act quickly
Use credit cards for better fraud protection
Peace of Mind for Your Family
At Golden Shield Protection, we understand that online safety isn't just about software—it's about protecting independence, dignity, and the financial security that took a lifetime to build. With our Windows app launching this December, more families will have access to the tools they need to stay protected during the holidays and beyond.
Our mission remains unchanged: to be a trusted partner helping older adults identify and stop online scams, providing peace of mind for the whole family.
